Michael Jackson Unveils O2 Arena Concert DatesMarch 10, 2009
Michael Jackson has announced the dates on which he will perform in London this summer.
The singer's ten night This Is It residency at the O2 Arena will begin on July 8th. Nearly one million people are believed to have already registered for a chance to buy tickets to the shows, which will be the King of Pop's final London gigs. Tickets - priced between £50 and £75 - go on sale on general on Friday (March 13th) at 7am, but a pre-sale opens tomorrow (March 11th). Jackson told fans at the O2 Arena last week that he “loved them” - and insisted that the concerts in July would be his “final curtain call”. But as demand for the concerts builds, he is widely expected to announce more dates. Randy Phillips, head of concert promoter AEG Live, also revealed that it is possible Jackson could play shows in other cities around the world. Jackson, now 50, has not performed a full concert since he was cleared of child molestation charges in 2005. His last full tour, entitled HIStory, took place in 1996 and '97. In total, the singer is expected to earn upwards of $400m for his comeback, which also includes a 3D film deal. Jackson's London dates are:
