Michael Jackson To Play Ten London ConcertsMarch 5, 2009
Michael Jackson will play at least ten concerts at London's O2 Arena this summer.
Posters for the residency, entitled This Is It, have already begun appearing across London's tube network. They suggest Jackson will play ten shows in July, although it is thought he could add more depending on demand. The self-proclaimed King of Pop is expected to confirm details about the shows during a “special announcement” at the venue later today (March 5th). Fans have been anticipating confirmation of Jackson's live return ever since sources revealed on Tuesday that he had completed talks with promoters AEG. Many Jackson fans, including an impersonator, have camped outside the singer's hotel in West London. Jackson's concerts will be one of the most anticipated events of the 21st century. He has not performed a full concert since he was cleared of child molestation charges in 2005. His last full tour, entitled HIStory, took place in 1996 and '97. Speculation about Jackson's future as a performer increased in January when his spokesman said the singer had returned to Los Angeles in order to relaunch his career. Despite reports about the singer's supposed bad health, Jackson's spokesman, Tohme Tohme, said "the second half (of Jackson's career) will be better than the first."
