Pet Shop Boys 'Asked To Headline Latitude Festival'March 25, 2009
Pet Shop Boys asked to headline the Latitude Festival, organiser Melvin Benn has revealed.
The band will top the bill at the Suffolk this July event alongside Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Grace Jones. Speaking to the BBC, Benn revealed that Pet Shop Boys' Neil Tennant is “a real fan of the festival”, and said the singer joked: "If we don't get this gig we're not carrying on." "It is hard to believe this band have sold 30 million albums and they want to play Latitude," Benn said. "I just think it's fantastic that we've got a band of such stature coming to us to say they want to play the festival." The event, which takes place at Henham Park from July 16th-19th, will also feature previously announced acts Editors and Doves. Bat For Lashes is also scheduled to perform at this year's festival.
