Radiohead Writing New Material, Set To Announce Summer DatesMarch 12, 2009
Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien has said the group are currently planning a series of summer shows.
The guitarist also told BBC Newsbeat that they were working on new material, which could be showcased at the gigs. "We are working on new material. We'll be doing some more recording. It's business as usual,” he said. "We've sort of finished the bulk of [In Rainbows] touring. We will be doing a little bit of touring in the summer, watch this space!" O'Brien was speaking at the first meeting of the Featured Artists' Coalition in London. The lobby of around 100 musicians is attempting to establish a more powerful voice in order to take advantage of new technologies. O'Brien said that in the current climate it was important that musicians are “there fighting our corner”. He added: "Radiohead signed very traditional record company contracts, and it was exactly what we wanted to do at the time and there's no bitterness, but I think there's an inherent feeling that they're just a bit old school."
