Pete Burns 'Critically Ill', Undergoes 5 Hour OperationMarch 18, 2009
Dead or Alive singer Pete Burns has said he is in a critical condition in hospital after suffering kidney failure.
In a message on his official website, Burns told fans he had undergone a five hour operation after collapsing last Wednesday (March 11th). "They [doctors] found eight stones in each kidney but were unable to remove them as they were blocking both the kidneys, the urethra and bladder,” he wrote. "I'm in a very serious condition on 24-hour intravenous morphine for the pain.Intravenous fluid as I'm so dehydrated and the kidneys can't retain the liquid. "I also have diabetes insipidus which is puling water from my lung, liver, heart and brain.” Burns added that he was “critically ill” and being kept under 24-hour observation. The Dead or Alive singer is best known for the 80s' hit 'You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)' and appearing on the 2006 series of Celebrity Big Brother.
