Coldplay Set For Chart Double With 'Viva La Vida'June 17, 2008
Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida', which is the title track from their new album, has been tipped to top the UK singles chart this weekend.
The song had previously been excluded from the chart after it was released as an individual download to anyone who pre-ordered the album. But the embargo has now been lifted and thanks to the huge sales for the band's new album, which is currently number one in the album chart, the song looks set for the top. New chart regulations, introduced last year, mean that all downloaded songs, regardless of whether or not they appear on an album, are chart eligible. As previously reported, the band's new album, 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends', sold 302,000 copies in just three days last week. The album is already on of the fastest selling records of all time. If trends remain the same, Coldplay will have two singles in the top-10 this Sunday. 'Violet Hill', which was released last month, is currently at number ten, according to Music Week. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Coldplay's New Album Nearly Complete (30.03.2011)
