Lily Allen, Dizzee Rascal Lead 55th Ivor Novello NominationsApril 20, 2010
Lily Allen and Dizzee Rascal lead the nominations for the 55th Ivor Novello Awards with two nods each.
Allen’s ‘The Fear’ has been shortlisted for Best Song Musically and Lyrically alongside The Leisure Society and Patch William. The track has also been nominated for the PRS for Music Most Performed Work award. Girls Aloud’s ‘The Promise’ and ‘Broken Strings’ by James Morrison are also in contention for the prize. Rascal, meanwhile, is nominated for Best Contemporary Song for his hit ‘Bonkers’. Bat For Lashes’ ‘Daniel’ and ‘In For The Kill’ by La Roux are also shortlisted. The British grime star’s album ‘Tongue N’ Cheek’ is nominated for the Album Award alongside Paolo Nutini’s ‘Sunny Side Up’ and The Duckworth Lewis Method’s self-titled album. Ellis Rich, Chairman of PRS for Music, said: “Every year the Ivors celebrates the best of UK song writing talent and it is wonderful to see some new names in this year’s mix.” The ceremony is set to take place at London’s Grosvenor House on May 20.
