Coldplay Have Millions Of Ideas For 'Ambitious' New AlbumApril 20, 2010
Coldplay have “millions” of ideas for songs on their new album, it has emerged.
The band are currently working on the follow-up to 2008’s ‘Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends’ at their London studio. In a blog post, Coldplay’s regular blogger Roadie #42 revealed that the group had begun rating each idea on pieces of card and then sticking them to a huge wall. Each proposal is then ranked depending on its quality in three different categories: A, B or C. Roadie #42 wrote: “The A list is songs that *have* to go on the record. The B list are songs that might or might not. “The C list contains things that are being left - not forgotten, but that are unlikely to be worked on immediately - they'll either find a home or they won't.” Roadie #42 said recording was “moving at a great pace” and described the project as “easily the most ambitious thing I've ever seen the band undertake". The blogpost added: “Somehow though, the scale hasn't been intimidating as much as inspiring. Things are focused now and can be thought of in terms of the finished work.” It is not yet clear whether the album, which is yet to be titled, will arrive before the end of 2010.
