The Tings Tings: 'We Used To Be Rubbish Live'June 2, 2008
The Tings Tings have admitted that it took them time before they gelled together as a live band.
The duo, who topped the UK album and singles charts last month, accepted that initial live shows were often hit or miss for the audience. Drummer, Jules De Martino, told the Daily Star: “We did our first proper gig at the Birmingham Barfly. It was where Katie picked up the guitar for the first time – but she couldn’t get a sound out” “She had to ask the audience what to do and they shouted back: ‘Turn the amp on’,” he said. The duo’s debut album ‘We Started Nothing’ dropped to number three in the album chart on Sunday, while single ‘That’s Not My Name’ remained at number two.
