Coldplay Showcase New Material In South AmericaMarch 11, 2010
Coldplay showcased a new song during a recent gig in South America, it has emerged.
The band played the track, entitled 'Do Quixote', at River Plate Stadium, Buenos Aires, on February 26. Introducing the song, which shares its title with a novel by Spanish author Miguel de Cervante, frontman Chris Martin described it as a tribute to their South American fans. “We felt like it would be good for us if we had a special song that celebrated how much we think of the Latin American audiences,” he said. The singer added: “We decided to write a song about the magic escape when the band receives when we come to Latin America - this is called 'Don Quixote'.” The song, which is driven by an acoustic guitar, is thought to be the product of Coldplay's recent recording sessions for their new album. The band said recently that the follow-up to 2007's 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends' was due later this year. But their comments were later denied by record label EMI. Coldplay are due to play the final date of their South American tour in Mexico tonight (March 11). (by Jason Gregory) See also: Coldplay's New Album Nearly Complete (30.03.2011)
