Sir Paul McCartney's Girlfriend 'Supports Tel Aviv Concert'

September 18, 2008
Sir Paul McCartney's Girlfriend 'Supports Tel Aviv Concert'Sir Paul McCartney's girlfriend, Nancy Shevell, has given her support to the former Beatles upcoming concert in Israel.

Sir Paul has vowed to headline the concert in Tel Aviv on September 25th, which forms part of the Jewish state’s 60th anniversary celebrations.

But his participation has drawn criticism from some political bodies and extremists, with one Islamic militant saying he had become the “enemy of every Muslim”.

Despite fears, Shevell is understood to have been keen for Sir Paul to perform “from day one”.

"She plans to join him out there and is greatly looking forward to it,” a friend of Shevell told the Telegraph.

As previously reported, Shevell and Sir Paul made their first public appearance earlier this week at an exhibition of photographs by the former Beatle's daughter, Mary, in London.

The couple have been almost inseparable since the former Beatle's divorce from second wife Heather Mills was finalised in May.

Most recently, the pair travelled on a road trip together along America's Route 66, posing for pictures with Beatles fans during the holiday.

Shevell is an old friend of Sir Paul and his first wife, Linda McCartney, who died in 1998 following a battle with cancer.
