Rihanna: 'British Music Festivals Are A Big Deal'April 29, 2010
Rihanna has praised British music festivals, describing them as a “big deal”.
The singer, who is set to headline Radio 1’s Big Weekend next month, said it was a privilege to perform at an outdoor event in the UK. "British festivals are high profile," she told the BBC. “It's a big deal. Every artist in any part of the world is always honoured to be part of a British festival.” Rihanna, who has previously said she would like to play Glastonbury, also admitted that she wasn't concerned about the prospect of bad weather. "It doesn't matter what climate or weather or environment or how much mud, it's all about that connection with the fans, meeting that audience and having that experience with them,” she said. "It really doesn't matter. I'm really honoured to be a part of it." Cheryl Cole, Paramore and JLS are also among the acts set to play Big Weekend, which takes place at Faenoel Park in Bangor, Wales on May 22 and 23.
