Metallica, Muse, The Verve Nominated For UK Festival Awards

October 24, 2008
Metallica, Muse, The Verve Nominated For UK Festival AwardsKings of Leon, The Verve, Muse, Rage Against The Machine and Metallica have been shortlisted for Best Headline act at the UK Festival Awards.

The Verve and Kings of Leon have both been nominated for their Glastonbury sets, Rage Against The Machine and Metallica for their Reading performances and Muse for their set at the V Festival.

Other nominees at this year's ceremony, which will take place in London on October 30th, include The Ting Tings and Vampire Weekend, who are both in the running for Best Live Newcomer.

Best Festival Rock Act sees nominations for Elbow, The Raconteurs, Bloc Party, Bullet For My Valentine and Biffy Clyro.

Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis will be presented with the Outstanding Contribution prize at the event.

Eavis, who founded the festival, attracted criticism earlier this year by selecting rapper Jay-Z as a headliner.

But his choice proved to be the right one when the rapper, who is a surprise omission from the Best Headline act category, drew widespread praise for his performance in June.
