Radiohead Urge Fans To Lobby Politicians Over Climate Change Bill

June 27, 2008
Radiohead Urge Fans To Lobby Politicians Over Climate Change BillRadiohead will use their concert in Glasgow tonight (June 27th) to urge fans to support the Climate Change bill.

Fans will be asked before the gig to sign postcards that will then be delivered to Alex Salmond, Scotland's first minister.

It's hoped that the signatures will lobby politicians into introducing the Climate Change Bill which, in Scotland, is calling for a limit on the total of all emissions released between now and 2050.

Tonight's initiative has been organised by Friends of the Earth's Big Ask campaign.

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, who is an ambassador for the cause, said the band hoped to “encourage” fans to help tackle climate change.

"It's time our politicians play their part as they are the only ones who can put the structures in place that will help us.

"That's why I am supporting the Big Ask Scotland and asking anyone who cares about climate change to support it too,” he said.

Radiohead's current world tour is taking place under strict eco-friendly guidelines which the band have extended to fans who travel to their gigs.
