Metallica and Kings of Leon Top UK Charts For Second WeekSeptember 22, 2008
Metallica and Kings of Leon retained their stronghold on the UK album and singles chart for a second week yesterday.
Death Magnetic – Metallica's ninth studio album – heavily outsold Ne-Yo's 'Year of the Gentlemen' thanks to their sold-out show at London's O2 Arena and appearance on TV show Later With... Jools Holland. Elsewhere in the album chart, Glasvegas' dreary eponymous debut slipped to six while The Streets's 'Everything Is Borrowed' had the disappointing new entry of seven. Mercury Music Prize winners Elbow remained in the top ten at number eight with their stunning album 'The Seldom Seen Kid'. Kings of Leon held firm at the singles top spot ahead of former number one Katy Perry with 'I Kissed A Girl'. Their fourth studio album 'Only By The Night' is released today and will battle Metallica for number one. (by Scott Colothan) See also: Kings Of Leon 'Excited' For Talihina Sky Premiere (21.04.2011)
