Jay-Z Stuns Glastonbury CrowdJune 30, 2008
Jay-Z proved all the critics who said Hip Hop won't work at Glastonbury wrong by providing a showstopping spectacle as he headlined the Pyramid Stage last night.
As rumoured, the Hip Hop star came out to the words of Noel Gallagher criticising him. However, it did not just stop there. The rapper then came out to Oasis' hit 'Wonderwall' and began miming along with the crowds singing while draped in a guitar. It was a fantastic move from the star and recieved a huge reaction from the crowd - when it could have so easily upset many. Contrary to popular belief Jay-Z was not joined onstage by any of his celebrity friends but did sample an array of artists during the set including AC/DC on '99 Problems' as well as U2, Estelle and Rihanna. The crowd were in high spirits as Jay-Z got everyone to 'bounce' and yell 'hov' at his beckon call. Who would ever have predicted that at Glastonbury? He finished with his Linkin Park collabaration track 'Encore/Numb' and recieved the biggest cheers of the night. Constant chants of the rappers were named after treating the crowd to such favourites as 'Hard Knock Life', 'Girls Girls Girls' and 'Dirt Off Your Shoulder'. Noel Gallagher may have won the war of words but Jay-Z fought back in the best possible way and proved why his is such a global enterprise.
