Bloc Party Get Skeleton Out Of The Closet In LondonOctober 1, 2008
Bloc Party returned to the stage in London last night and included an extremely rare performance of cult fan favourite 'Skeleton' in their set.
Following their encore, the four-piece came back on stage for a second time and singer Kele Okereke hurled his microphone into the crowd, proclaiming that whatever song was shouted out first would be played. With 'Skeleton' being the overwhelming winner, its first half was played before the Kentish Town Forum staff had time to turn the house lights off again. Earlier, a track was sincerely dedicated to Keane, who were described as "nice guys – no, I'm serious!" The US also got an ironic shout-out before 'Better Than Heaven'. In reference to the credit crisis, Kele stated: "Let's not worry about the bad times coming, let's have a good time now." New album 'Intimacy' featured heavily in the set, but the best receptions were reserved for classics such as 'Banquet' and 'Helicopter'. This show was a one-off gig, with the band set to embark on a full UK tour later in the year. (by Greg Rose) See also: Bloc Party To Reunite? (25.03.2011)
