Michael Jackson Memorabilia Auction Axed

April 15, 2009
Michael Jackson Memorabilia Auction AxedAn auction of Michael Jackson memorabilia, which included the star’s infamous diamond glove, has been cancelled.

The four-day sale had been due to begin in Beverley Hills on April 22.

But Jackson’s production company sued auctioneers to prevent the sale from going ahead.

Nearly 1,400 items will now be returned to the singer after a settlement was reached with the auction house.

As a result, Jackson has dropped the lawsuit.

A public exhibition of the items due to go under the hammer, which opened yesterday, will continue until the end of this week.

Jackson’s lawyers have spent the last two months trying to halt the sale by Julien's Auction House.

Earlier this month, a judge ruled that the auction could go ahead after auctioneer Darren Julien said he agreed a contract with Jackson's managers and that the singer approved an initial press release.

But Jackson continued to maintain the threat of legal action, claiming the items had “effectively” been stolen from him.

Fans visiting the public exhibition will also get the chance to see the gates to Jackson’s former Neverland home and his various stage costumes.
