Carla Bruni Makes Rare TV Appearance With MetallicaSeptember 17, 2008
Carla Bruni was quizzed about her life as France's first lady during a rare television interview last night, on a show which also featured Metallica.
Bruni, who married French President Nicolas Sarkozy in February, performed tracks from her latest album 'As If Nothing Had Happened' on Later...with Jools Holland. But it was the insight she gave into her private life which was the focus of the programme. Asked by Holland how she approached her two lives, Bruni replied: "I don't really mix them up - I separate them. I play my music and then I go with my husband when he needs me." She also admitted to disturbing her husband in the night with her music but said it did not “drive him mad”. "It's a very different world for him but he's very kind and listens to all my doubt,” she added. As well as Metallica, who are currently number one in the UK album charts, other guests on last night's show included Kings of Leon and British rapper Sway. An extended edition of the programme will be screened this coming Friday. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Carla Bruni Topples Coldplay On French Album Charts (28.07.2008)
