Metallica will play an intimate show at the BBC Radio Theatre on September 14th, it's been announced.

The band's performance will be broadcast on BBC Radio 1 the following day.

Tickets for the show are only available to those who apply via the radio station's website.

As previously reported, Metallica, who release their new album 'Death Magnetic' on September 12th, will also play at the O2 Arena in London this month.

Ticket proceeds from the show on September 15th will go to charity.
