Mike Skinner: 'Finishing The New Streets Album Was The Highlight Of My Life'September 1, 2008
Mike Skinner has told Gigwise that finishing The Streets' new album 'Everything Is Borrowed' was the “highlight of my life”.
The 29-year-old explained that the purpose of the album, released on September 15, was to write something extremely positive and upbeat in direct contrast to his hard-hitting previous record 'The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living.' He beamed to us: “Finishing this album was the highlight of my life. It’s a great album, it’s my best album. The intention it was to make something that was undeniably positive.” Skinner also reflected on the band's upcoming UK tour which is encouraging fans to bring items along that the band can borrow. The person with the best item gets to travel with the band to the next show on the tour bus. “With The Streets there’s not that many of us and everything we do is really genuine, so I’m thinking it could be something really low key for the fans, and obviously it will be really good for filming as well. I haven’t really thought about it yet (what he’s hoping he can borrow) maybe a spare pair of pants, always gets a bit short for that on tour!”, he said.
