Caleb Followill: I Wrote 'Only By The Night' Songs On Prescription DrugsSeptember 19, 2008
Kings of Leon singer Caleb Followill has admitted that prescription drugs helped him to write the band's fourth album 'Only By The Night'.
The Tennessee rocker said he dislocated his shoulder in a drunken fight with his brother Nathan which required surgery, leading doctors to prescribe him with super strong medication. Caleb says that the drugs were so strong, they helped “expand” his mind. He explains: "They were pretty serious meds. The prescription said I should take a lot more than I was taking but I just couldn't do it. It was too much. "But whenever I was taking them, I felt good. As soon as I started to come down, I was supposed to take another. “After a while, I felt trapped. There was nothing to do and everything was kind of boring so I'd just write songs and, in the process, I really expanded my mind."
