Muse's 'The Resistance' has scooped the Best Art Vinyl Award 2009 for its artwork. The annual countdown, hosted by artvinyl.com, celebrates the best album artwork of the year and is voted for by public vote on their website. 
A record number of singles were sold in the final week of 2009, partially down to the Rage Against The Machine vs. X Factor chart battle earlier in the month. According to the Official Charts Company, 4.22 million singles were sold in the week of Christmas, beating 2008's record of 4.03million. 
Hole and Babyshambles have both been added to the NME Awards shows in London next month. Courtney Love's band, who release their first album in 12 years - 'Nobody's Daughter' - early in 2010, play the Shepherds Bush Empire on February 17. 
The family of Avenged Sevenfold drummer Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan have issued a statement about his untimely death. Issuing it on avengedsevenfold.com they hailed him as a “genius” who was “much too young to fall.” 
Peter Gabriel has announced a second date at London's O2 Arena after the first one sold out. The former Genesis member will take to the stage on March 27 and 28 of this year to play a set billed as “an orchestral show with no drums and no guitars.” 
The much anticipated debut album from Irish band Two Door Cinema Club is set to be released on March 1, it has been announced. One of the most hotly tipped new bands for 2010 Two Door Cinema Club featured on the recent Gigwise list of bands to watch this year as well as on the BBC Sound of 2010 longlist. 
The Rolling Stones have denied they are headlining Glastonbury Festival or touring in 2010. In a statement, The Stones iterated they have no plans to tour this year and that internet reports claiming they are playing Worthy Farm in the summer are false. 
Lady Gaga, Green Day and Pink will all be performing at this year's Grammy Awards, it's been announced. Also newly confirmed to play live at the Staples Centre, Los Angeles event on January 31 are the Dave Matthews Band and the Zac Brown Band. 
Pavement have announced details of a Greatest Hits compilation. 'Quarantine The Past: The Best Of Pavement' will be released on March 8 to coincide with the bands return to playing live across the world.
