Sir Mick Jagger has hinted that the Rolling Stones are ready to get back together to record new material.

The singer said in an interview with the BBC that writing new songs would be “a very good idea”.

“I've been writing quite a lot of music,” the singer added.

When asked if guitarist Keith Richards was keen to get the guitar our, Sir Mick replied: “I'm sure he is.”

“And I'll be seeing him next week, so I'm sure we'll get together and start doing that.”

Sir Mick’s comments coincide with the re-release of the band’s classic album ‘Exile On Main Street’.

The album, originally released in 1972, is on course to top the UK album chart on Sunday.
