Keith Richards: 'Rolling Stones Studio Sessions Were Hitleresque'May 6, 2010
Keith Richards has described recording sessions for the Rolling Stones album ‘Exile On Main Street’ as “Hitleresque”.
The band recorded the album during the summer of 1971 at the Nellcôte mansion in France, which had been hired by the guitarist. Talking about their time recording at the villa, Richards told XFM: “It was hard work down there. “It was a bit like stoking the boilers. It was the height of the summer in the south of France and it did get pretty sticky down there, it had a dust floor. “It was kind of Hitleresque”. 'Exlie On Main Street', the band's tenth studio album, was released in 1972. As previously reported, Richards hinted earlier this year that the Rolling Stones may record new material in 2010. However, Richards, who is currently writing his autobiography, cast doubt over the Rolling Stones' future as a live act.
