Blur Railway Venue To Receive Commemorative Plaque

November 25, 2009
Blur Railway Venue To Receive Commemorative PlaqueThe East Anglian Railway Museum, which staged Blur's first gig, is to receive a commemorative blue plaque.

It is part of the Performing Rights Society's (PRS) new initiative to honour a host of venues which staged influential bands debut gigs.

The block of flats where Dire Straits played live for the first time is also due to be recognised.

Blur kick started their career at The East Anglian Railway Museum and returned to the Essex venue in June as part of their reunion tour.

PRS Chairman Ellis Rich told the BBC: "The UK has given the world some fantastic songwriters and performers which enrich our lives and provide the music we love.

"I'm proud that their humble musical beginnings will now be marked for all to see."

The unveiling ceremony will take place at the museum on November 30.
