Muse, The Horrors Want To Record 2012 London Olympics AnthemMarch 1, 2010
Muse and The Horrors have both admitted that they would like to record the official anthem for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Muse drummer Dominic Howard said the band were keen to get involved because the event was on home turf. “Since it’s here in London, sure,” Howard said. “We’ve got a new song, so maybe we could use that.” The Horrors' Tom Cowan revealed that he and bandmate Rhys Webb had already written an appropriately titled song called 'Olympian'. He told BBC 6 Music that they were keen to play the track, which he described as “perfect” for the event, to London mayor Boris Johnson. Webb added: “It’s an electronic piece and it’s very evocative of the human frame and very athletic, but also graceful. “It would be a lot better than whatever they choose, that’s for sure.” Former New Order star Bernard Sumner, who penned England's 1990 World Cup anthem 'World In Motion', has also expressed interested in writing the 2012 song. London is due to host the Olympics from July 27 to August 12 2012. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Muse's Matt Bellamy And Kate Hudson Engaged (27.04.2011)
