John Lydon Confirms Public Image Ltd. Intend To Record New AlbumMarch 15, 2010
John Lydon has confirmed that Public Image Limited intend to record new material for the first time in nearly twenty years.
The band, who are on the verge of an extensive US tour, reformed last December. In an interview with Billboard, Lydon said he expected the group to begin recording at his LA home following their US dates. "We've got no backing - no record company, no sponsors, nothing like that," he said. "The only way we can make money is the touring, and then we can make a new album. “It's sort of like the old days of PiL, when the Pistols went kaput; I had to scrimp and scrape out of my own pocket. Not much has changed." The former Sex Pistols frontman also revealed that he had “piles” of new material to work on because “I never stop writing”. PiL's US dates begin at the Coachella festival in Los Angeles on April 16.
