Paul Weller says he turned down his CBE because he doesn’t like the Royal Family.

The former Jam frontman, who released his new solo album ’22 Dreams’ on Monday (May 18h), said it would have been “pointless” to accept the honour.

“I'm not really into it. It's not my sort of thing. It would have been a bit hypocritical for me to accept that, I don't really agree with it,” he said.

“I don't like the royal family, I don't like the establishment, I don't like the civil service.”

In an interview with the BBC, Weller also spoke about the prospect of turning 50 on Saturday (May 25th).

“You can't do much about it, can you? I'm just not bothered one way or the other to be honest with you,” he said.
