‘Control’, the critically acclaimed biopic about Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis, has picked up another accolade.

Sam Riley, who plays Curtis in the film, was named Best Newcomer at last night’s (March 10th) Empire Film Awards in London.

It is the fourth award that Riley has won for his depiction of Curtis, who committed suicide at the age of 23.

The film, which is available to buy on DVD, has continued to win over critics since it was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the south of France last May.

The film, which was directed by Anton Corbijn, was also crowned Best Independent Film at the British Independent Film Awards.
