Lady Gaga has said defended herself from her critics and said she will not be "destroyed".

In a new documentary, the singer fought back tears as she admitted she still felt like "a loser kid in high school".

"I cannot be destroyed and I will not be destroyed. And you will never destroy the kingdom that is my fans," she says in the documentary.

"I just have to pick my shit up. Pick myself up and tell myself I'm a superstar every morning just so I can get through this day."

She also said she wanted to feel like a "winner" for all her fans.

Lady Gaga Presents The Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden will air on May 7 on HBO.
