John Lennon Time Capsule Project Announced

July 29, 2010
John Lennon Time Capsule Project AnnouncedThree authorised time capsules are to be buried to mark what would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday year.

The capsules will include Lennon's post-Beatles recordings, as well as contributions from fans.

They will be preserved and stored at the Rock Hall in Ohio – as well as two other significant locations – until they are opened in a ceremonial presentation on October 9, 2040.

The project has been endorsed by Lennon's widow Yoko Ono, who said she was “delighted” to be involved.

“I know that John's work, life and dreams will help inspire them to bring a better world for everyone. Children Power!” she added.

Fans can submit contributions to the authorised time capsules project at BoxOfVision.com/TimeCapsule.

Lennon would have turned 70 on October 9. He was shot dead in New York in December 1980.
