Eminem has revealed that Sir Elton John regularly contacts him for updates on his battle against drug addiction.

The singer befriended the rapper after they performed together at the 2001 Grammy Awards and helped him through his stint in rehab in 2005.

In an interview with Spin, Eminem said Sir Elton's experience in the music business meant he “understood” his situation.

"Elton John calls me once a week,” he said.

"He used to tell me stuff like, 'You're going to start seeing certain things you've been overlooking'. And it came true.

I'd walk around like, 'Damn, that tree does look crazy, look at all those leaves!' Things I didn't notice when I was f**ked up."

Eminem charted his fight against drug addition on his 2009 album 'Relapse' and this year's follow-up 'Recovery'.

The LP is currently at number one on the UK album chart.
