Aerosmith's Steven Tyler Has Quit The Band, Guitarist Joe Perry Says

November 9, 2009
Aerosmith's Steven Tyler Has Quit The Band, Guitarist Joe Perry SaysAerosmith guitarist Joe Perry says singer Steven Tyler has quit the group.

His comment follows days of speculation over Aerosmith's future after fellow guitarist Brad Whitford admitted relations were strained within the group.

“Steven quit as far as I can tell,” Perry told the Las Vegas Sun.

“I don’t know anymore than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band.

“I don’t know for how long, indefinitely or whatever. Other than that, I don’t know.”

Aerosmith's future has been under the spotlight ever since the band were forced to cancel their US tour in August when Tyler broke his shoulder.

Perry was later quoted as saying that the incident proved the band needed to examine their current status.

But the group returned to the road with Tyler in October and last performed together at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 1.

Speaking to the Las Vegas Sun, Perry said the band would most likely find a replacement for Tyler should he confirm his departure.

“He’s obviously had this planned for a long time,” the guitarist said.

“To disregard his brothers to the point where we have to find out about it on the Internet – it’s like, 'See you later, Bud'.”
