Fans of Oasis have voiced their surprise after the band failed to make the short list for this year's Mercury Music Prize.

The Manchester group had been hotly tipped to scoop a nomination for their eighth album 'Dig Out Your Soul'.

But the 2008 LP was not among the 12 nominated albums announced at a ceremony in London this morning.

As previously reported, Kasabian, Friendly Fires and La Roux are among the 12 acts nominated for this year's Mercury Music Prize.
