Keane: 'We're A Progressive Band Like Radiohead'April 15, 2009
Keane have spoken out about their decision to change their sound on latest album ‘Perfect Symmetry’.
The album, which was released last year, showcased an obvious step away from their piano-led background. The band also recently held the world's first ever 3D webcast. Drummer Richard Hughes compared their progression to other forward thinking bands like Radiohead. “Some bands that find their style and stick to it,” he said. “Then there are others that progress, bands like Radiohead, who always do something different and surprise you.” In an interview with the Daily Star newspaper, the band also outlined plans to abandon the UK in a bid to further their career in America. Singer Tom Chaplin said the group enjoyed the US because they weren’t blighted by a posh stigma. “It’s amazing how far and wide our music has reached in terms of other artists, especially in America,” Chaplin said. “There’s less stigma attached to us, like all of the things we have been lumbered with in Britain. “Being posh, etc etc – annoying things that have nothing to do with how we sound. “Over there they make judgments solely on the music so we have these cool people and we should have some exciting collaborations coming soon.” (by Jason Gregory) See also: Keane To Play Exclusive iTunes Festival Gig (30.06.2010)
