Simon Cowell Says Fergie In Line For X Factor USA Judge Role

Simon Cowell has confirmed reports that Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie is a contender to become a judge on The X Factor USA.

The music mogul is preparing to launch the American version of the show, but so far only record executive LA Reid is confirmed for the judging panel.

Cowell told reporters that Fergie was one of a number of music stars who could join Reid.

"We are still having nightly arguments with everyone, trying to get everyone to agree," he said. If you asked everyone involved on this show who they would like on the panel, you would have 25 different opinions."

Rihanna and Katy Perry are also thought to be potential judges, while X Factor UK judge Cheryl Cole has also been linked to the post.

The series is due to begin later this year. Auditions for the programme have already begun.
