The Smiths To Do A Rage Against The MachineJanuary 12, 2010
A Facebook campaign has been launched to get The Smiths' seminal song 'How Soon Is Now?' to number one in the UK.
The fetchingly titled group - ‘The Smiths How Soon Is Now? For No1 Meat Is Murder 25th Anniversary’ - has been set up less than a month after Rage Against The Machine's 'Killing In The Name' was propelled to Christmas number one following an anti-X Factor Facebook campaign. As the title suggests, the group has been set up to mark the 25th anniversary of The Smiths' album 'Meat Is Murder' on February 11th. Smiths fans are being urged to download the single from midnight on January 31st through to 23:59 on February 6th. The founders of the group write: “Let's put real music back in the headlines and celebrate one of the UK's greatest bands ever.” Currently the group has 7,100 members – quite a way behind the RATM4XMAS peak of over 1million.
