Radiohead Suffered Hearing Loss Recording 'In Rainbows'May 27, 2008
Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood has revealed that he suffered hearing damage during the recording of the band’s latest album ‘In Rainbows’.
Greenwood said that he suffered temporary loss of hearing and tinnitus because he used the wrong headphones during the sessions. "[It was] a fucking nightmare. It [his hearing] came back, mostly. It doesn't feel like I'm talking to people underwater anymore. "For a few months afterwards I'd be watching the telly and suddenly heard these high-pitched whistling noises as more and more high frequencies came back,” he told Word. Radiohead originally released ‘In Rainbows’ last October as a download-only – allowing fans to name how much they wanted to pay for the record. When it was officially released at the end of 2007 the album went on to top the charts in bother the UK and America.
