Radiohead's Thom Yorke Launches Fresh Climate FearsMay 20, 2008
Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has voiced fresh concerns about the state of the environment, as the Government prepares to introduce new climate change laws.
Yorke said it was “fantastic news” that the Government was introducing a new bill but said plans to leave the UK’s share of emissions from international flights and shipping out of a new draft was a “big problem”. “The Government is also hiding behind old science figures that a 60 percent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 2050 will be enough, even though the science community is saying at least 80 percent cuts will be needed,” Yorke said. “We need as many people as possible to get on board the campaign now so we get a stronger law." Yorke is part of a new Friends of the Earth campaign that also features Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell and KT Tunstall.
