John Lennon's Letter About Beatles Split To Paul McCartney Up For AuctionApril 18, 2011
A letter written by John Lennon to Paul and Linda McCartney about The Beatles split is up for auction.
The letter, believed to be written in 1971 but never sent, takes aim at McCartney and attacks other Beatles' members. The penned letter is expected to sell for forty thousand pounds when it goes up for auction in the US next month, reports The Daily Telegraph. Lennon writes: "I hope you realise what s*it you and the rest of my 'kind and unselfish' friends laid on Yoko and me." Adding: "I'm not ashamed of the Beatles - (I did start it all) but of some of the s*it we took to make them so big - I thought we all felt that way in varying degrees - obviously not." "Of course, we changed the world - but try and follow it through - GET OFF YOUR GOLD DISC AND FLY!" John Lennon's handwritten 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' lyrics are also up for auction this month. (by Holly Frith) See also: iTunes 'Paying The Beatles Direct Royalties' (06.01.2011)
