James Blunt Speaks Out About Royal Wedding RumoursApril 19, 2011
James Blunt has spoken for the first time about rumours he was set to perform at the Royal Wedding next week.
Earlier this year, the singer claimed in an interview that he was appearing at the ceremony - something his publicist later denied. In an interview with Billboard, Blunt said he was acting in "good humour" when he claimed he would be performing for Prince William and Kate Middleton. "Like every English or British musician being asked one silly question too often, I gave a silly answer - and then I went to my Wikipedia page and changed it to say 'classically trained church organist,' and 4,400 websites picked up on it," Blunt told Billboard. "It was really funny. My publicist was really nervous but, you know, it's all in good humour. I imagine it's going to be a traditional wedding, and at most traditional weddings they don't have pop stars playing." Blunt used to serve in the Household Cavalry - a position previously held by Prince William. The Royal Wedding is set to take place on April 29 in London.
