Arcade Fire Congratulated By Hometown Montreal Over Grammy Awards WinFebruary 15, 2011
Arcade Fire's hometown of Montreal have been celebrating the band's win at the Grammy Awards.
The band picked up the prize for 'Album of the Year' beating Katy Perry, Eminem and Lady Gaga at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (February 13). The City of Montreal's website now features a banner reading: "Bravo Arcade Fire for its 'Album of the Year' Grammy!" The Canadian heritage minister James Moore paid tribute to the band, tweeting: "A thought: I'm a big U2 fan, but perhaps U2 should be opening for Arcade Fire on July 30 in Moncton instead of the other way around." During their acceptance speech frontman Win Butler thanked his French-Canadian hometown: "Thank you, merci, to Montreal, Quebec, for taking us and giving us a home and a place to be in a band." Meanwhile, Aracde Fire will be performing at tonight's BRIT Awards in London. (by Holly Frith) See also: Arcade Fire Win Big At Canada's Juno Awards (28.03.2011)
