Lady Gaga Storms UK Charts With 'Born This Way'February 13, 2011
Lady Gaga has gone straight in at number three on the UK singles chart with ‘Born The Way’, selling more than 60,00 copies in just 34 hours.
The song, taken from the singer’s forthcoming album of the same name, was only released digitally at 2pm (GMT) on Friday (February 11). In a strong week for single sales, Jessie J held onto the number one spot with the B.o.B–featuring single ‘Price Tag’, while Chipmunk was a new entry at number two with ‘Champion’. Both tracks sold over 90,000 singles each. There are no other new entries in this week’s top-10, according to the Official Charts Company. Meanwhile, in the album countdown, Adele held onto the number one spot for a third week with ‘21’, selling over 130,000 copies. The Streets were a new entry at number eight with their fifth and final album ‘Computer And Blues’, while James Blake’s self-titled debut charted at number nine. Take That were a re-entry at number ten with ‘Progress’. Their former number one is expected to receive a further sales boost next week when they appear at the BRIT Awards in London.
