Damon Albarn's Gorillaz asked fans to create a new character for the band 'The Evangelist' as part of an online competition.

Over 5,000 drawings for The Evangelist were submitted by fans, with the winning drawing featuring a tall thin character with a gold fishbowl as a head and watergun, The Sun reports.

The character drawing is to be redrawn by Gorillaz artist Jamie Hewlett and will feature in an upcoming music video.

Meanwhile, Gorillaz founders Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have raised questioned over the group's long-term future.
