Lauryn Hill has confirmed she is working on a long-awaited new studio album.

The former Fugees singer told MTV that her follow-up to 1998's 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' was “getting closer”.

"We're getting closer. That's all I can say,” the singer added.

Hill refused to divulge any further details about the LP, but did play down reports of possible collaborations.

“It's been such a long time since I've gotten my voice and my ideas [out],” she said. “In terms of collaborations, that's not even something I've been thinking about per se."

Meanwhile, Hill made her return to the stage at the New York leg of the Rock The Bells Tour last weekend.
