Lily Allen has confirmed she is part of a team of people working on a rewards scheme to help combat the problem of knife crime. Allen, who met with London mayor Boris Johnson earlier this year to discuss the problem, said the body planned to reward people for “positive action”. 
Boy George will play two shows in London next week, the second of which will feature “very special guests”. The gigs will take place at the Pigalle Club on December 16th and 17th. 
Animal rights group PETA have called Britney Spears a “toxic mess” after she released a new music video featuring elephants. The video for 'Circus', the title track from Spears' latest album, portrays the singer as the ringmaster at a circus. 
US rapper Kanye West has fuelled speculation that Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am has been involved in the production of U2's next studio album. Will.i.am first discussed his contribution with the project last week, telling Billboard that he wasn't “supposed to talk about that”. 
Amy Winehouse's record label has hired three studios across London for the singer to record her new album, according to reports. Island Records are said to be so keen for Winehouse to complete her third LP that they have spent £150,000 on the studios, which are located in the north, east and west of the city. 
Franz Ferdinand have unveiled details of their first complete UK and Ireland tour of 2009. The six-date trip will begin in Limerick on February 28th and also includes dates in Manchester and London. 
All four original members of Blur will reunite for a special concert in London's Hyde Park next summer. The gig, on July 3rd, will be the first time the band's original line up have performed together since 2000. 
Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody has described Leona Lewis as “the next Whitney” after her cover of one of the band's songs topped the UK charts. Lewis's cover of 'Run', which was released following public pressure, sold 133,591 copies in seven days, becoming fastest selling digital-download only track of all time. 
Jeff Buckley's cover of 'Hallelujah' by Leonard Cohen has enjoyed renewed success on the UK singles chart despite not being given a physical re-release. The song has climbed six places to number 43 after contestants sang the track on a recent edition The X Factor. 
The baton Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones used to conduct the Foo Fighters performance at the Grammy Awards has gone up for auction. Jones directed the orchestral section of the band's hit 'The Pretender' onstage in Los Angeles last February. 
Drummer Josh Freese has revealed he is leaving Nine Inch Nails because he is expecting his third child in the New Year. Speculation over the reason behind Freese's departure has been rife since frontman Trent Reznor confirmed in September that Nine Inch Nails' current US tour would be the drummer's last. 
Katy Perry went from banana to Father Christmas during a performance in California over the weekend. The singer wowed fans with an impressive array of costume changes at the Jingle Ball in Anaheim. 
Bruce Springsteen's forthcoming album will feature his longest studio song in decades, it has emerged. The album's opening track 'Outlaw Pete' is eight minutes long – Springsteen's longest track since 'Drive All Night', which appered on his 1980 studio LP, 'The River'. 
Lily Allen has slammed Katy Perry, accusing the singer of being nothing more than a “crass” American version of her. Allen said Perry had only won a record contract because her American record label was looking to exploit Allen's appeal in the US. 
US rapper 50 Cent has spoken about his relationship with Eminem, describing the fellow hip-hop star as being like his second grandmother. The rapper praised Eminem for taking him under his wing – and said working with the rapper was “always a pleasure”. 
Oasis have released a new EP today (December 9th) exclusively for their American fans. The 'I'm Outta Time' EP, which is available through iTunes, includes three versions of the song, including a remix and frontman Liam Gallagher's original demo version.
