US Air Force Song Composer Says White Stripes Similarities Are Coincidental

US Air Force Song Composer Says White Stripes Similarities Are CoincidentalA composer has denied copying a song by The White Stripes, which was then used on a US Air Force Reserve advert at the Super Bowl.

Kem Kraft, a freelance musician, said any similarities between his song and 'Fell In Love With A Girl' were coincidental.

“I’m sorry it sounds the same. It wasn’t my intention, truly, truly, truly,” he said.

On Tuesday, The White Stripes released a statement claiming their 2002 track had been “re-recorded and used without permission”.

They also threatened to take “strong action” if the composition wasn't pulled from the advert.

However, Mike Lee, the owner of Fast Forward Productions – the production company who hired Kraft – said he wasn't familiar with The White Stripes' song.

“I’ve heard of the White Stripes but I’m not a listener of theirs. I had no idea there was similarity until after the fact,” he told the New York Times.

Kraft said would take responsibility for any similarities and that he was willing to talk to The White Stripes about his composition.

The US Air Force Reserve also said any similarities between the two songs was “completely unintentional”.
