Jay-Z Condemns Chris Brown For Rihanna Assault

July 22, 2009
Jay-Z Condemns Chris Brown For Rihanna AssaultUS rapper Jay-Z has condemned Chris Brown for attacking his former girlfriend Rihanna.

In an interview with Tim Westwood, Jay-Z said he didn't agree with Brown's actions but denied claims he had asked for the R&B star to be blacklisted from a recent awards ceremony.

US media reports earlier this month claimed Jay-Z had threatened to pull out of the BET Awards if Brown was allowed to attend the event.

But Jay-Z said: "That's the silliest rumour I ever heard. You know me, right? I was sitting back and watching all them suckas [comment]. You don't comment on rumours.”

He added: “First, let me categorically deny that. If I have a problem with Chris Brown, I got a problem with Chris Brown. I don't agree with what he did and that's that."

Jay-Z was also asked to give his opinion on Brown's recent videotaped apology, during which he called for the forgiveness of his fans.

"We're all flawed human beings. All a person can do is apologize," Jay-Z said.

"That's it, what can we say? You know everyone should be allowed to make mistakes. It happens."

Last month, a Los Angeles judge sentenced Brown to five years' probation and ordered him to undertake six months of community service after he pleaded guilty to assault over the incident with Rihanna.

Meanwhile, during an interview with Zane Lowe yesterday, Jay-Z said he believed his 2008 headline performance at Glastonbury helped break down barriers.

The rapper is currently in Europe to promote forthcoming album 'Blueprint 3'.
