Guns N' Roses' Axl Rose Attacks Guitar HeroDecember 18, 2008
Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose has criticised the “unauthorised” use of the band's music in the video game Guitar Hero.
Rose suggested the game's makers Activision did not have permission to use the songs 'Welcome To The Jungle' and 'Sweet Child O' Mine'. But the singer said he didn't have an issue with former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash appearing in the game. "Him [Slash] being [in] 'Guitar Hero's fine but not when Activison in using '...Jungle'... unauthorized," Rose wrote in a message on one of the band's websites. "I wasn't broadsided, I read about it as it moved along but Activision continually denied it right up to the release. That's some low life chicanery on all their parts. "Yes, Slash was in Guns and on '...Jungle' and he has rights to perform it, but not to be represented in this context in association with Guns. And since they weren't granted the license it'll take some sorting." Rose has spent much of the last week addressing a number of fans' long-standing issues with the band on various Guns N' Roses websites. In one conversation he defended himself against accusations that the band's new album is simply his solo album. He also said former members had given fans an inaccurate account of why the group fell apart in the 1990s. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Guns N Roses Turn Down Glee Offer (19.01.2011)
